How I Work as a Family Photographer

STEP 1

I will start with a chat about your vision style, and any ideas of this day and create a mood board with poses. I’ll also cover how the session is structured, what to expect, and pick a date, time and location for your shoot.

If you don’t have any questions we go to the next step.

STEP 2

To secure your booking, a 30% deposit will be charged before your booking. Deposits must be completed to finalize booking.

This step ensures that everything is in place for a successful and stress-free photoshoot experience.

STEP 3

We will have to confirm on the location of the photoshoot. Whether it will take place at your house or in a studio.

Please note: You can reserve the studio by yourself and send me the details to confirm booking location. If you are unfamiliar with the process, I can handle the booking on your behalf for an extra fee of $20 on top of the studio fee.

STEP 4

Get ready for our special family photoshoot!

After the photoshoot, I will send you a link to your personal online gallery for selecting photos and after you select the photo you like, I will begin the editing process.

STEP 5

Your final photos will be delivered within up to 30 business days .

What time of a day should we book a session?

It’s very important to time your family photoshoot right. I always base my timing on the kids' sleeping schedule and try to shoot during the time they are most rested. I want them to be happy and energetic! The time depends on the season, but the best light is always in the mornings and noons typically. However, shooting outdoors is great when we have overcast also.

What can I expect during a photoshoot?

My goal is to capture you, being the awesome family that you are – beautiful in all its honesty, messiness, and genuine love. On location (think park, your home, the beach) family photo sessions are typically 45 minutes to 2 hours long, and you can expect us to prompt you rather than directing. I will document you hanging out in your home, walking in a park or having breakfast together. Things that you do as a family.

How do I prepare for the photoshoot?

Natural light: As a natural light family photographer, we pay a lot of attention to light. Make sure that the room you want us to photograph in your house is naturally well lit and has a large window. The gentle morning light provides for the most flattering portraits and brings out that. Outdoor family sessions: If your session is outdoors, whether it’s a beach or your favorite park, we recommend bringing a few props such as a picnic blanket and your kids’ favorite toys to keep them happy. magic glow.

Can I add extra time to my photoshoot if I need?

You can always add an additional hour to your session if you feel like you’ll need more time. My special rate is $100 for an extra hour (Reg. $300). Please note that even though our sessions are 45-min long, newborn sessions and bigger family groups will benefit from having that extra time.

Do you charge an extra fee for traveling?

I'm servicing 15 km Within Oshawa without travel fees. For sessions taking place further than 15 km from Oshawa, a travel fee of $1 per kilometer traveled will be applied.

Do we need to bring anything for the family photoshoot?

It’s a great question! If you’re having an outdoor family session, I suggest bringing a picnic blanket to sit on and a few of your kids’ favorite toys to keep them occupied.

I can't choose between indoor or outdoor, can you help me?

I want your family pictures to be a beautiful and accurate representation of your daily life.I prefer outdoor because I like natural lights and neutral. So ask yourself: what photos would you like to look back on in 15, 20 and even 30 years from now? Whether it’s your cozy family hanging on a sofa or a nice day at a park, I want the location to be meaningful to you. Besides, being familiar with the place will also put you at ease and help create some of the most emotionally-rich and candid family portraits out there.

What should we wear?

This is your opportunity to have some FUN with your outfits! Bring a few extra layers that are easy to take on / off. For example if you feel like wearing a leather jacket over a cute dress , go for it! Or if you want to keep tones neutral and earthy, try matching with the family. If you are thinking about doing a couple outfits, I suggest booking a 1.5hrs session. This way we’re not rushed and can incorporate more looks and locations.

When will I get my photos with editing?

My goal is within 3 weeks.

IF it's raining, can I reschedule our photo session?

If you’d prefer to reschedule, no problem, please let us know a minimum of 24 hours in advance or fees will apply.

When do I schedule my maternity ?

If you’re counting by weeks, schedule your maternity session when you’re around 30 weeks pregnant. If you take maternity photos after your eighth month of pregnancy, it might feel uncomfortable to pose in front of a camera.
